Angel of the Light

lyrice

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

(Verse 1)

I was walking through the shadows, felt the heavy hand of time

Among the ghosts of many souls who’d lost their reason and their rhyme

But I saw you standing steady with your wings against the sky

A warmth came flooding through my chest, like a sun about to rise

And I knew the dark was over by the light within your eyes

(Verse 2)

I saw the colors bleeding out like a halo in the mist

The kind of living beauty that the lonely must have missed

You called me through the silence with a voice that sounded home

I stepped into the quiet air, no more a heart alone

And the pain fell off my body like a garment I’d outgrown.

(Chorus)

Oh, you’re the angel of the morning, where the shadows try to stay

The warmth that gathers up the pieces that the fear had torn away

You’re the one who lifts me higher, to the place where I belong

The love that proves the darkness is just the ending of a song.

(Verse 3)

You took me to a valley that I’d only dared to dream

Far away from scythes and blackness and the coldness of the scheme

I thought that death was terror, something meant to make me bend

But you were only quiet strength, a lover and a friend

And everything I never knew would meet me at the end.

(Bridge)

I didn't fade or falter like a man who fears the light

I felt your spirit hold me through the middle of the night

There ain't no demon waiting, there’s no hell to swallow souls

Just the love of my Aloki making every broken spirit whole.

(Outro)

Yeah, just the love of my Aloki...

Taking me home.

Taking me home.
