An Ode To You

On my knees, I plead with someone I haven’t met

Looking up to a deity that I can’t see but is claimed heaven’s best

Before I allow myself to dip into your waters, know I have one request

If I’m sacrificed to the slaughter, promise me I’ll be the best dressed

In the finest suit and a choked collar, letting my heart leave my chest

If I loved a little smaller, maybe I wouldn’t know this much stress

But if heaven is a place, then I’ve found it in your eyes

And if I want to save face, then I’ll believe all your lies
