An Ode to the Man Who Played it Safe

A Poem

Here’s an Ode to the man who played it safe

To survive was his chief goal and aim

To simply outlast all the rest was his plan

Endurance his one claim to fame

Despite everything that he didn’t achieve

He was proud of the fact that he gave

His life to avoiding the taking of risk

And protecting himself from the grave

Not dying was his best achievement in life

Until came the day that he did

And when he was dead at his casket they said:

“Here’s an ode to the man who played it safe”
