An Ode To Journals

Poem By Jaclyn R. Barrows

Simple bound pads of paper,

Dotted or lined, doesn’t matter.

Partially used or completely blank

There’s much imagination at stake.

I must fill each page, but with what?

Should you be a commonplace book?

A diary? A planner? A scratch pad?

You, my friend, could be anything;

What should you become…

The possibilities are endless…!

So many stories to tell…

Where to start?

So much more to learn,

Yet I fear the first mark.

It’s so pristine..

I don’t want to ruin it,

Yet I’m begging to begin.

The little blank book or pad of paper

Calls to me to look within.

Just relax, go for it!

Oh, to sit down and enjoy this process!

No fear, just write whatever comes to mind.

Pull out everything from the mind’s deepest recesses,

Leave it all on the pages and see what I may find.
