An ocean of yearning
Free verse from an ill heart

Missing you is like the ocean
It comes in waves tides and ebbs
Like the undertow when I wade it pulls me in
Submerging me and drowning me in despair
Our memories are like sunsets
Precious and rare
One of a kind like timeless art etched in my mind
My hope for us
Are like machines dismantled
Parts scattered about
Broken down dreams without a way to rewind or instructions to reassemble that which seemed so perfect
A summer vacation that can’t be recreated
Or your favorite flavor pulled off the shelf
A picture perfect scene played out in a flash
Or an injured rookies career ending too fast
I should have known it was to good to last
