ignorant orchardists eating fruits

unaware of the poison in the tree roots

ignorance not bliss

in this cycle of decay

poverty through medical bills

forcing them pray

more disempowered

by each passing hour

as ‘doctors’ affirm

their disease

is to stay

all for the price

of an apple a day
