An Alphabet of Happiness
Comfort in times of trouble
Answers to the wishes I’ve not uttered
Butterflies dancing a Viennese Walz in colourful dresses
Crickets playing the violins on my balcony
Dreams from which I wake up smiling
Earrings matching the blouse, for another day in the empty office
Flights to my land above Shaun the Sheep and other clouds
Gifts wrapped up by my best friend, delivered just before Christmas
Hot chocolate with a caramel flavour and marshmallows
Indian neighbour, kidnapping me for five hours of shopping
Jasmine with petals of red roses in a small cup of tea
Kali, the dog who steels the hearts, sleeping on my rug
Lights turned on in darkness when going home
Mum’s voice from miles and miles away
Nights with chatting stars at my attic’s window
Orchids greeting me in the morning
Pebbles on the beach, singing carols in the Royal Sea Hall
Quarrels with the naughty birds in the garden
Roses dressing up a rented little house
Sister’s card from my last birthday, waiting for her return
Toys whispering at the Zoom meetings of the busy manager.
.
.
.
I’m learning new letters every day
from this mysterious language
But I must start all over again,
every single morning.
Oh, I keep forgetting.
Why is it so hard
to remember that
I Am HAPPY?
