Always Enough

For the one you’re meant to love

I’ve been loved in the dark,

behind closed doors, where bliss

was fleeting, just a spark.

I’ve been loved so quietly,

sometimes I wondered if love was even there.

I’ve been loved with expectation,

isolated—

not because I wanted to,

but because I thought they did.

But no longer.

The next time I fall,

I will be loved LOUDLY,

PROUDLY,

BOLDLY,

with a fire that matches mine.

I will be free—

quirky, feminine, all of me,

and feel safe in that space.

When my migraines pin me to the bed,

when my body aches with pain,

I will be seen.

I will be loved when I’m radiant,

and when I am not.

Loved fiercely, passionately,

held so deeply that all doubts

fade into the quiet of the night.

I’ll stop questioning the future,

and why the past never worked.

I will love without shrinking,

without fear of being “too much.”

Because you’re never too much

for the one meant to hold you.
