Almost a memory

like the shadow of a song

I can’t quite remember

or put my finger on

Almost a memory

of something that made me smile

but the picture won’t stay in focus

and it fades away meanwhile

that only lasts a minute

but even though it’s hard to know

I think I saw you in it

of something that I miss

is it the memory of a caress

or the linger of a kiss?

lost before its time

like an old favorite poem

an old favorite rhyme
