All I Needed Was to Hold You

But we was not meant to be in this life time

All I Needed Was to Hold You

You stood close enough to steal the calm,

close enough to rewrite every rule,

and I believed what lived in your eyes

was something untouched, something true.

I never asked for endless promises,

never searched for a perfect name,

all I needed was to hold you once

without guilt waiting behind the frame.

Your words arrived like open doors,

soft enough to lower my guard,

yet hidden rooms stayed locked away

while I gave love and called it ours.

There were nights your silence shifted,

your hands returned carrying distance,

and I blamed storms I could not see

instead of hearing the truth insist.

Then the pieces found their places,

a life beside me I never knew,

someone else held your mornings

while I held the parts left loose.

I hated love for what it became,

for making honesty feel late,

for teaching me a borrowed feeling

can still leave permanent weight.

I did not break from losing you,

I broke from what was never mine,

from building warmth around a shadow

and calling borrowed hours a sign.

Still somewhere inside the wreckage

a quieter truth pulls me through—

I did not ask to own your world,

all I needed was to hold you.
