A different kind of love song

Confronted by two groups of folks,

Where neither would own wrong,

My friend spoke truth I won't forget

And, so, I wrote this song.

He said...

It's all about lovin' people,

Not bein' number one.

It's all about lovin' people,

On this trip around the sun.

People are messy and jagged;

Loving them guarantees pain,

But lovin' people is worth it.

In the end, it's you who's changed.

It's all about lovin' people,

Not bein' number one.

It's all about lovin' people,

On this trip around the sun.

Love means saying, "I'm sorry,"

And saying, "I forgive."

Love hopes the best and bears the worst;

That's how I want to live.

It's all about lovin' people,

Not bein' number one.

It's all about lovin' people,

On this trip around the sun.

Love is not self seeking,

Doesn't boast.

Never quick to anger,

It's what we need the most.

Oh...

It's all about lovin' people,

Not bein' number one.

It's all about lovin' people,

On this trip around the sun.
