Welcome to the visitors of another land
shall we go tentacle to hand
I can show you some amazing sights
some give thrills, some just frights
if intelligent life is what you seek
I am afraid most of candidates are weak
from the highest of leader
down to the fishiest bottom feeder
from the far north, to the deepest south
beware of what comes out of many a mouth
Lies, untruths and fables is what you hear
in fact you will get this from many peoples rear
There so much help we need
mouths we need to feed
The worlds climate is on fire
our chances of making it are dire
Please help us our visiting friend
Or surely it will be all our end
Forests of flame, seas of plastic
please help us do something drastic
please help us save what we hold dear,
dont come for intelligent life, cos there sod all here

Reaching Out
I promise her. I'd do anything for her. She's my mom. Even as Lanie and Deanna are flying home, Mom is scrappy fighting dying. She lays too still in that too-big bed with all the toasty white hospital blankets, in the south tower, at the broad end of a long slow-turning corner that delivers me again to her private room with the view she can't see through, with the beeping that tells us nothing new, and all these ice chips she can't swallow, and a flood of well-intentioned nurses who cannot do a damned thing all the same.
