Alcoholic Mischief

Alcoholic mischief maker

It poured itself into my glass,

potent magic, strong, accursed,

my head was banging, I needed a nurse.

It made me dance on tables,

strip to my undies,

then I did a little pole dance

in front of some strange-looking men.

Somehow amused,

I called a taxi,

got myself safe home to bed,

when I woke this morning,

my memories made my face burn red.

My phone was buzzing, flashing wild,

with videos sent by Satan’s child,

my so-called friend, who’d filmed it all,

from my shimmy slide to my drunken fall.

My bra was swinging from a neon light,

I’d kissed a mirror and lost the fight.

I’d tried to chat up a mannequin lad,

then cried on a bouncer who looked like my dad.

My heels were gone, replaced by socks,

my purse was filled with traffic cones and rocks.

One eyebrow shaved, a tattoo drawn,

a smiley face where it should not be.

I staggered up with a moan and wheeze,

clutching my stomach and aching knees,

promised the sky, the floor, the wall,

I’ll never drink again, at all.

by noon the headache’s dulled to a hum,

and I’m laughing soft at what I’ve become.

A chaos queen with pride to mend,

til Friday night rolls round again. Wey hey lol
