At midnight, the perfect time

To look into the basin and wonder how it all changed.

I wish the secrets I hold behind my back weren't so difficult to carry

But part of me thinks that were they easier in the light, I'd miss something important while I memorised myself.

To be honest, I don't think I'll ever really know you again.

We just drifted; was that all it was?

Not sure how long I can stand these thoughts

Of you - so much older now;

We were inseparable once.

But I've moved on, just enough.

Even if I still feel stuck inside those thoughtful words we spoke.

The promises we made of eternity

Compared endlessly to the things we long for now; alone.
