A lot of you wonder what the hype is all about

Well me too

But I’ve been in this dance for close to a decade now

I’ve walked miles with my earbuds vibrating from the crescendo of Abel Tesfaye (The Weeknd’s) songs

Have you ever wondered why we are so drawn to him?

It’s because he feeds the sickness within us

That darkness that threatens to erupt when we’re low on dopamine

His melodies suit us most when we’re alone without watchful eyes

It haunts our souls like trendrils of darkness upon a wall

I don’t know about you

But I think Abel Tesfaye has reached a certain level of self awareness that remains untouched

We’re disgusted by him because we’re scared of being so raw

We shy away from the darkness that threatens to consume us

Yet here he is, belting out melodies that should’ve earned him the hangman’s stamp in another era

This man has never claimed to be a saint

So why are you here in your ghostly garb trying to make sense of it

Why are you here if you’re not secretly nurturing a rot

Why do you seek him in your lowest of lows

Are we just saints, or are we the truly the scums of the earth.

The Idol has been a subject of controversy since its release. I just wanted to use this medium to shed a little bit of light on The Weeknd as an artist.
