A Woman Captured by His Fists
A Woman Captured by His Fists

WINTER IN HELL
A Woman Captured by His Fists
Winter in hell had iron teeth,
It stole the air she tried to breathe,
She counted tears upon the floor,
And prayed he’d hurt her nevermore.
His fists were storms she knew by sound,
Her broken dreams lay on the ground,
She trembled when she heard his feet,
Her frightened heart forgot to beat.
The walls held secrets of her pain,
Her tears fell down like winter rain,
The mirror turned its face away,
From bruises born of yesterday.
He called it love, she called it fear,
Another blow, another tear,
A prisoner inside his home,
A woman frightened and alone.
She dreamed of skies without a cloud,
Of laughing freely, laughing loud,
Of gentle hands that brought no pain,
Of feeling warm and safe again.
But winter lived inside his eyes,
His promises were wicked lies,
He held her captive in his hell,
Behind the door where silence fell.
Yet somewhere in her wounded soul,
A tiny flame began to glow,
She whispered words he couldn’t hear,
One day I’ll leave this house of fear.
And when she walked into the light,
She left behind his endless night,
No longer captured by his fists,
She found the life she’d dearly missed.
