A Unique Ability to Survive
Dark Relationships
When you cried
I positively welcomed my support
Not a degrading word
Just a break in your isolation- your fear- to let you know your value
But now our relationship has tilted
Your color is black
Smearing your layer
Over my bright colored calm ray of happiness
Till tears take away what had been my joy
The heavyweight of Gray
I am no underdog
I can hold my own
To treat me as one only pushes me away
And to grow your value-by degrading mine
Somehow the phone remains on my ear
I inwardly cry- anger taking over
but
I will survive
and shine
like a star
In the lives of those
Whose egos can allow mine to shine
About the Creator
Antoinette L Brey
I am an elder in a time of freedom. I am now retired. All i want to do is have fun. Without a daily routine, my imagination is one of my only salvations. I am not planning on writing a book, it is just for my own pleasure
