A Tribute To Dolly Parton
Thank you For Being There For Me
I chose this butterfly to represent a song I love by Dolly Parton, but there wasn't one that could represent it in the way that could possibly represent this beautiful singer, who in my opinion had a heart bigger than humanity has ever seen.
I put my words in a poem, because I am grieving the loss of someone who was so special to me, and at this stage, I cannot bring myself to write a full blown story explaining why.
Dolly's wonderful music, caring nature, and kindness has kept me strong through decades of pain and trauma.
She was my light in the extreme darkness of my traumatic days, and a very strong beacon of light who guided my path when I truly needed someone to keep me stronger than strong, and at breaking point.
You were the only light in my life,
Who stood with me when I was broken,
Picked me up in my worst storms,
And showed me what love was
when I didn't know.
You brightened my world with your music,
My guide without ever knowing me,
My magic light in the night.
Your sweet voice brought me comfort,
Your strength taught me how to be strong.
You taught me to embrace my feminity,
You showed me how to be independent.
You gave me the power to stand up for
myself,
Showed me how to find my authenticity.
The world has lost it's brightest light,
But your light will shine brighter than
any other,
From the heavens above.
I know that you will smile down on us,
Comfort us in this hard world,
And give us the strength to love,
During times of hate.
Goodbye is not the right word,
And I'm not ready to say it,
So;
I will say,
Keep singing,
Keep dancing, Dolly,
And we will see your beautiful colours,
Shining in the sky,
For we will all be reminded to share the love,
In a world full of hate.
