There is something about a traffic light in the night;
In the dead of night, when the air is still, and the streets are lit dimly by lights that never turn off;
And nothing moves, but the traffic light changes.
There is something about the rain in the middle of the night;
When you find yourself alone in silence;
And the world is paused, asleep, but the rain pours on.
There are things that are forgotten for the day;
Because people have something to do;
And the traffic light switches from green, to yellow, and then to red, and you wait.
Then it begins to rain;
But you still have something to do;
And you run from place to place with your coat over your head.
Then the day turns to night;
And nobody has anything to do;
But the rain continues to fall.
Then you notice the traffic light switch back to green;
But there is nobody there to go;
And you wonder if the light cares at all.
