A Toxic Deception

A Poem About Illusions Shattered and Truths Found

By Trishawn BlakePublished 4 months ago 1 min read

You literally meant me no good; I don't know why that was so hard to see.

Everyone told me to stay away from you, but all I did was disagree.

I was so young, so naive, and so easy for you to deceive.

I convinced myself you were a good person, which is even more harder to really believe.

You were never the right person for me, and you showed me that every single time.

You would hurt me, play the victim, and make me feel like I was the one who committed the crime.

But why are you this way? I guess no one knows for sure.

But all I know is your text-back game sucked, and your communication was quite poor.

A true narcissist, a slick manipulator, a cancer to an innocent soul.

You truly deserve a round of applause because you did a damn good job at playing your role.

But what usually goes around comes around, whether or not you think it's true.

I will leave you alone, and leave you to time; eventually, you'll find someone as toxic as you.

Oh man, aren’t people like that the best? In all seriousness, great poem here Trishawn! Cancer to an innocent soul is a great and very accurate description of a narcissist.

Does like attract like or do opposites attract? We are like elements combining. We do not leave each other the same as when we united! Well-wrought piece here!
