A TOUCH OF SUMMER

Thoughts of romance running wild
from inside a candle lit room,
where two strangers lay in bed
oblivious to outside gloom.
Caught up in the heat of passion
two lonely lovers both alone,
searching all around for love
that they might call their own.

Restless in the morning light
as sunlight touches a sleeping face,
feeling the need grow inside
which causes their hearts to race.
Driving them far from home
where people meet and fall in love,
sharing dreams of passion
with a full moon shining up above.

Looking down upon strangers
who make love beneath a starry night,
while angels watch with wonder
resounding with a contented sigh.
Inspiring poets to share their dreams
of adventure and romance,
for them with little or no hope,
unwilling to take a chance.

Reaching for the child within
which once played games carefree,
having no worries about life
whose motto was "let's wait and see".
Running fast beneath blue skies
upon meadows where grass grows green,
as it sways in a gentle breeze
always felt but never seen.

No matter what age in appearance
just believe and you would find,
more than could be desired
with someone compassionate and kind.
Who lingers in dark shadows
watching as the world does change,
thankful just to be alive
as they run upon an open range.
