A Thought of You

About thinking about someone.

A faint glimpse of you, of a character I have never even met.

Somehow, I feel as though I’ve always known you, my dearest friend.

Even for the briefest moment, as our sweeping gazes spoke,

My soul jolted alive, and my slumbering heart awoke.

[End Stanza 1]

Even as I think of you now, I remember the look on your face -

Your purposeful stride, your words full of eloquence and grace.

I reminisce about your gentle spirit and the warmth of your smile.

Before I turned to walk to you, I paused to think for a while.

[End Stanza 2]

What should I say, what words might we exchange?

The fact that we had yet to meet still seemed so strange.

Then as I at last looked up and moved to your spot,

You were gone, and all that I had left – was this thought.

[End Stanza 3]

And I still think of you now, on the bleakest of nights and as the rain drops fall.

Was I to you what you were to me - or simply nothing at all?

Still every time, I marvel and consider in awe,

For as I think of you, my problems seem in comparison - so very small.
