A Tale of Love in Winter's Gloom

Love's Separation: Winter's Sorrow

By Taimur KazmiPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

When frosty winds doth nip the tender heart,

And Yuletide bells do mock our grievous part,

Two souls once bound in love’s eternal thread,

Now sundered by the words that others spread.

O cruel tongues, like daggers deftly hurled,

Thou mak'st a ruin of our private world.

For where we danced in joy’s unclouded glow,

Now lies a chasm wrought by whispers low.

Thy hand, once mine beneath the winter’s star,

Now slips away, as though we strangers are.

Not for the lack of love, nor passion spent,

But meddling souls their wretched counsel lent.

Yet still, my heart doth burn with steadfast flame,

And sighs aloud to call thy gentle name.

Though snow doth fall and earth lies cold and bare,

My love shall bloom, eternal, rich, and rare.

O if the stars could weave their course anew,

I’d find thy gaze beneath the heavens’ blue.

And silence all who seek to tear apart

The bond that Heaven sealed within our heart.

But lo, if fate decrees our paths to stray,

And thou must journey far, thy heart away,

Know this, my love, no season could suffice,

To dim thy visage in my weeping eyes.
