A Symphony Beneath the Rain

The rainy days can seem so dull and gray,
With anxious clouds that linger through the morn;
The silver raindrops wash the world away,
While dreary skies leave every dream forlorn.
I wish the golden sun would shine tomorrow,
And chase away this heavy veil of sorrow.

Mom hums softly in the kitchen downstairs,
While Dad is snoring, lost within a dream.
No cheerful bird is dancing through the air,
No sparrow sings beside the window stream.
Yet somewhere underneath the misty sky,
The waking earth is breathing, growing, green.

I'll find an umbrella, sturdy and bright,
And wander down a trail I've never known.
I'll follow where the little rivers wind,
Past mossy stones and flowers freshly grown.
For though the rain may hide the world from sight,
It paints new wonders in its watery light.

The thirsty plants rejoice beneath the rain,
Their leaves like emeralds sparkling as they drink;
The flowers lift their faces once again,
While droplets gather softly at their brink.
Perhaps the rain, which seemed so cold and gray,
Has brought the sleeping garden back to life today.

There's still so much I want to do today—
To sing, to dance, to laugh, to run and play!
I wish Mom's cooking could be put away,
And Dad would wake and join me for the day.
I'm bored enough to climb the walls in vain—
So come outside and dance with me in the rain!

Perhaps I thought the rain had ruined all,
But now I hear a rhythm in the storm.
Each raindrop taps a melody so small,
Each puddle holds a sky both bright and warm.
The sun may hide beyond the clouds awhile—
But rainy days can teach the heart to smile.

So bring your boots and grab your umbrella,
Come chase the puddles shining in the street.
We'll sing until the cloudy skies grow lighter,
And let the rhythm wash around our feet.
For even when the sunshine cannot stay,
There's always something beautiful about the rain. ~
