A Star is to Me as the The Sun is to We
a love poem
If only I can make the moon sigh my name
once more with the same care that you used
to do mine—like an amen hung in the eve sky
—will it give my soul back to me?
—turn back time?
⠀
Does the sun know that it is a star too, not just
The Sun, in the same way that I had to see I am
me not just We?
In the same way that I had to see that I am not
the girl you made to mold me to be, to be free
of you?
And now I am Me with no we and the sky
is my own sea to wade in once more with bare
feet, ribs home to fast star beat, then swim
in this mess of a love poem to me, my path
to heal 'til the very end.
