A Splinter Saves the Day

~

Wax dripped on canvas - I did this project with a box of crayons that my young daughter was willing to sacrifice in the name of art! 😂

Cheers to clouds that rain colorful tears!

These clouds shield the sun-bleached, hopeful piers.

Growing fonder as I ponder,

the thunder boldly breaks asunder my wonder.

He growls in personification, with little hesitation,

but lots of premeditation,

“You’re at the end of your pier, it’s time you swim!”

Jolted by the obscure absurdity of his words, my response would begin.

“I’m unafraid to swim, but not in the midst of a thunderstorm.

I shall not toy with Death, who’d quickly collect my feeble form!”

To which he replied with, “I promise to hold back the lightning strikes of my screeching finger nails,

your life will surely be sustained and will not fail!”

With such reassurance, I arighted myself to dive in,

but my barefoot caught a wooden splinter in the pier, to my utter chagrin.

“Look, now my foot is bleeding!

So, away from this shark-infested-water, I should definitely be speeding!”
