We locked eyes from across the room

Space and time came to a halt

I wondered then, in a vacuum

All those poets, storytellers of the heart,

Was this what they spoke of

What they meant, what some dreamt of

What they pondered and wrote of

What was sought and heard of

To love, not with time

But to love at first sight

They wove with a rhyme

And prosed with delight

They spoke of love in long bouts

One that bloomed with no doubts

It lived and thrived in one route

And despaired from no drought

Was this what I felt then,

What I’d feared, what I’d hoped for

A love so instant

That it filled me with awe
