A Sleepy Deluge

Rain falls over the ocean as gentle as a lover’s kiss on worried cheeks

Rain falls over the ocean as gentle

As a lover’s kiss on worried cheeks,

Sheets of deluge moving in swiftly and gracefully,

Giving the abandoned beach a break--

A chance to taste fresh water without salt

In every gulp of the sand shifting with the tide

And every mundane breath of the sea’s bountiful air.

The rain soothingly glides over tired, eroded stones,

As its music diligently goes about smoothing furrowed brows

Over with a blanket of muted

Gray clouds to help eyes,

Hidden away in homes,

Grow heavy with peace.

And somewhere a cat yawns,

Stretching her back with feline grace

As she sinks her claws into warm sheets and lap

And settles in for a long sleep without any care

For when she would wake.

Wow, that had some very vivid imagery that made me feel right in the moment. I loved the way you finished it too. I was not expecting that at all but it worked so well. Lovely piece :)
