A Rose for Rosey
Her devoted husband loves her with all his heart

A Rose for Rosey
He brings her one red rose each week
the same way every time
no reason wrapped around the stem
no ribbon, note or rhyme
He doesn’t miss, not birthdays missed
not Christmas, rain or snow
he finds the finest one he can
then leaves it where she’ll know
She never asks him why he does
what he has always done
she only smiles and picks the vase
the tall and steady one
It started on the day they wed
and never slipped or strayed
a habit born from something deep
that never needs to fade
He says it all without the words
he shows her how he feels
in quiet ways that roses speak
with softness time reveals
So when she sees it standing there
in bloom and bold and bright
she knows he’s still the boy she chose
and he still gets it right
One rose, one vow, one love, still mine
