Free verse, shmeeverse, give me structure!

Don't just vacuate some duct your

Brain engages with your hand, and

Declare it great, and call it grand!

~

Meter matters! Where's the timing?

Are you capable of rhyming?

Let me feel the "thrum" of iamb

In your words, Dear Sir or Madame!

~

If you'd call yourself a poet,

Please, at least attempt to show it!

Any child can throw together

Strings of words without a tether.

~

Bind the lines with grace and splendor.

Bless them with the rhymes you render,

And imbue them with a rhythm...

….

…..

…...

Oh, hell...

Mind not the p's and q's of rhyming.

Let your words flow like water

Over the rocks of ages,

Freely,

Naturally,

For the soul is without structure.

***

I've been playing with this little satirical piece for quite a while. Time to call it done! Thanks for Reading!
