A Poem from an Angered LGBT+ Person
I've gotta say, being Not Straight™ can be a pain in the ass sometimes.

You tell us we don’t need paradesYou tell us we don’t need prideYou tell us we’re all equal nowYou tell us we’ve won the fight
But the fight has only begunAnd while you tell us that we’re equalI can’t help but disagreeWhile I see on the news that there are people deadPeople just like me
You tell us there’s no need to fearYou tell us that we’ll be safeTell that to OrlandoTell that to Leelah Alcorn
What you’re telling us is liesYou’re feeding us less than bread crumbs to keep us subduedBut all you’re doing is feeding the fireWe want real food
We want to see the sunshineWe want to go to the storeBut with your guns and laws and wordsWe can’t do that anymore
I will not be told that I am equalI will not be told that it’s okBecause it very obviously isn’tNot in your eyes anyway
I’m going to keep fightingDon’t think even for a secondThat you can make me go awayI’m a human being tooIt shouldn’t matter that I’m gay
