I’ve been saving a place for ________

An extra ________ at the ________

One half of the ________—
untouched
every morning

A space beside my name
on every form
I fill out

I’ve gotten good at leaving room

When people ask
what I’m waiting for,

I say,
“________”
but I’m not sure
I know what
“________”
means

There are years
I can’t ________
because ________ was there
to ________ them with me

Whole seasons swirled past

I stopped ________ing

I became a ________
where ________
would not stay

still,

I keep making space

In ________
I stand slightly off
to the side,
smiling

Today,
I woke
before the ________,
walked into the ________,

and found myself
standing there
________.
