A New Pride

I spot you and imagine . . .

Two flickering lions.

One with hooves

One with wings

Glitching but growing

Tangled manes reflect light.

Their own gold startling them

Quickening breath.

Terrified.

But unmistakably brave. Hearted.

The sun is hard on our golden backs

Light is hard.

But with you, I sense

What's hard is light.

My flicker

Glitching but growing.

You're a lionhorse.

You run and stand your ground

Shaking your head in the wind

It feels so good

In the strands of your mane

I am a lioness

And a bird

Mighty roar

And flutter

Tangled manes reflect the light

Glitching but growing

Stand your ground,

But fly

With me

Shaking our heads in the wind

And stirring dust

I see a new pride

About the Creator

Lady Headlamp

Tornadoes learn how to spin from Mother Wind

Nobody knows how the lady learned to spin.

She spins so hard, so gracefully, her colors swirl.

One day, a headlamp broke through the skin on her forehead

throwing her off balance - or so she thought.
