I didn’t know you could miss someone in a million little ways

I didn't know that when you miss someone everything triggers their memory

I didn't didn’t know how easily smiles come when you think of them

And how easily tears follow

I didn’t know your heart could have a hole,

But still feel heavier

A million little things,

Like their big presence,

Like their boisterous laugh,

Like their warm brown eyes,

How they squint when focused,

A million little things,

The black spot on your chin

The smooth baritone of your voice,

The firm grip of your hands

And the gentle embrace of those same hands.

A million little things,

The words you said,

The emotions you made me feel,

The intensity,

The lightness,

The pain,

The joy,
