A Marriage Of Convenience
Nothing deep at all here

A Marriage Of Convenience
Two hands met not out of love but out of quiet agreement,
A joining that made sense on paper more than in life,
Smiles exchanged like polite conversation at a distance,
Nothing too deep, nothing that risked becoming real.
Promises spoken without weight behind their meaning,
Words chosen carefully to avoid anything that might matter,
A bond formed through need rather than desire,
Something steady enough to never fall apart.
Days passed in a rhythm that felt almost convincing,
Shared spaces filled with things that looked like normal life,
Yet something hollow echoed beneath every routine,
A silence that no one dared to name out loud.
There were no fights worth remembering, no passion to regret,
Only a calm existence that asked for very little,
A life that moved forward without resistance or depth,
Two people staying simply because it was easier.
Love was never lost because it was never there to begin with,
Only a version of it shaped to fit expectations,
A connection built on comfort rather than truth,
Something safe enough to never truly live.
Years would pass and nothing would dramatically end,
No breaking point, no moment of sudden clarity,
Just a quiet understanding that this was always the plan,
A marriage that worked because it never asked for love.
