A Lone Heart

Aching, bearing,

Drifting farther away,

Is a lone heart,

With nowhere to turn,

And no help at hand.

With no one’s understanding

And a lot disapproved.

A smile always appears,

Or a power face appears,

No one knows.

The crying heart lurks,

Behind that mask of joy,

Except that lone heart,

Who conceals it.

An ever weeping, smiling,

Crying, trying, and lonely.

Behind the mask of joy,

A longing heart endures.

Unseen, yet resilient,

In sorrow's depths,

A flicker of hope.

An ever weeping,

An ever trying,

An ever sad,

An ever lonely,

An ever crying,

An ever smiling,

Lone heart.
