Limerick - 5 lines, rhyming 1, 2, and 5, then lines 3 and 4 rhyme with each other. There is more to it but this is enough for now. Usually funny, and nonsense.

My Friend Sal

There once was an elderly gal named Sal

Who flourished in her youth and was a pal

She went out for a swim in May

It was quite the swim on that day

She turned purple and almost died in that canal

~~~~
My Friend Henry
Henry was a young boy I met on Saturday
He was full of spit and vinegar that day
Some may say shit, not spit
I choose to say spit or s-it
Henry is trouble in almost every way.
~~~~

Then one about John

John is a monkey or so his sister tells

He is always teasing the child rebels

Calls their name, they say what

He says you are a nut!

Never any quiet times or lulls!

~

He is a man this is the truth

We love spending time in a booth

out to dinner we go

fun and everyone know

the way to a man's heart is in his tooth.

~

John is fun and a big-time joker

and loves to play cards and poker

He is a man of men

I like that amen.

He is no longer a smoker or toker.

~~~
'Oh, What a Tangled Web We Weave'
The intricacies of who is weaving the webs
So much work has to go into the spiderwebs
Who does the best work,
humans or spiders lurk
around when no one is watching the threads
~~~~

Authors Note: The mood of the author can determine the humor or nonsense in the limerick. Not my best limericks. Probably too serious of a mood this morning.

  • A nice Limerick. Loved your talent!

  • The limerick about weaving spiderwebs explores the intricacies of creation. Your limericks demonstrate a diverse range of themes and moods, reflecting the author's creativity and unique perspective. Thanks!

    Limericks are hard to write and you did a very good job at this form.

  • Well-wrought! Some whimsical takes, but the last one was my favorite because it has a depth to it... is it Charlotte's Web or a web of malicious Machiavellian machinations? Like with the author, the mood of the reader may determine the answer...
