Rhyming humor

I have been in love

so many times;

My poetic well is drying up,

I am running out of rhymes

Once, I fell for a kleptomaniac

a lady so smart,

I never even noticed

when she stole my heart

I also fell for a librarian,

strong and proud,

but she soon dumped me

for I was too loud.

I dated my friend, an accountant,

whom I’ve known since I was a kid,

oddly fond of keeping record

of everything I ever did.

Then I met a doctor,

who was quite mean,

never once treated me

to a meal

After that, I dated a puppeteer,

we were mismatched,

for the relationship she sought:

no strings attached.

Losing hope, I dated an arsonist,

I gave her my all,

for a fire she had lit

inside my soul

So many I have dated

what’s to become of me,

I feel lost

And I’m only 23.
