A Good Day Is Not A Perfect Day
An inspirational free verse poem to give you a psychological and emotional cleanse
A good day
doesn’t mean a perfect day.
It means you’ve felt
less rotten and morose
and more put-together and jolly
on a certain day.
You can still have
a rainbows-and-sunshine kind of day
and still have
some odd rough patches
that can be easily stitched back together.
That’s just the way
the cookie crumbles
for all of us!
There’s no such thing
as a perfect day,
because life isn’t as impeccable
as a spotless table
and sanitized chairs.
There are 24 hours
in each day we breathe in,
so we have ample time
to transform our images,
moods, behaviours, days and nights.

I heard someone talking about how being happy is not a complete absence of anything that causes concern or stress, nor is happy the same as elation and joy. Your poem is a lovely reminder that a day can be a good day, even if there was something less than great in it :)
