A Ghost That Refuses to Say Goodbye

lyric

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 5 days ago • 1 min read

Verse 1
It’s strange how a melody feels like a séance.
One note and your shadow sits down in the room.
I breathe and the silence folds into the cadence,
As if our past is waiting to resume.

Verse 2
I don’t press play because I’m chasing memories.
I press it for the version of us still alive.
Somewhere inside every chord you left with me,
There’s a world where you never had to die.

Chorus
And the music keeps holding onto what we couldn’t keep.
It carries the nights that we lost in the beckoning light.
But I hear you return when the harmonies weep,
A ghost in the song that refuses to say good bye

Verse 3
I sit with the echoes that drift through the speakers
It feels like a doorway I’m scared to step through.
The melody lingers like a quiet truth seeker,
Finding the part of me still tied to you.

Bridge
Maybe the ending was only a moment,
Not the whole story we thought it became.
Maybe the notes are the place we still  belong in,
A fragile forever that whispers your name.

Chorus
And the music keeps holding onto what we couldn’t keep.
It carries the nights that we lost in the beckoning light.
But I hear you return when the harmonies weep,
A ghost in the song that refuses to say good bye
A ghost in the song that refuses to say good bye
