A gay girl sat on the ground so green
She looked for what she had once dreamed
Forlorn the wind tore at her clothes
Till naked she found herself exposed
And when the sun went down to die
The moon arose she gave a cry
How could this be all that there was?
So lonely did her heart feel loss
Then sitting still she heard a voice
So simple yet so sublime a choice
She sang her heart was fit to break
As she began to contemplate
The woes of world and heaven alike
As waiting patiently for flight
She would alight upon a star
And whisper tales of time afar
Then one day she lay to rest
The complication of her mess
Chaos will cease its vocal chord
Severed to allow a flow abroad
Of beauty so profound and new
No more will she cry in her despair
But rise on angels wings she’ll soar
Above the painful hurt that claws
Upon her sensibilities to life anew
At last she’s free no longer blue
And when she rests in peace sublime
In her lovers arms after blackness dies
She will ascend to heights of colored rhyme
She will travel on a rainbow arc of colours
A spectrum true from violet, green and blue
A sunshine, burst of yellow, pink and gold
A conception of colours both bright and bold
And none dare to throw dark accusations
Words that spit a vitriol of condemnations
She will lift her head with pride and majesty
With her lover proudly by her side
She will no longer be despised
Her consolation after years of spite
A white wedding will be her right
And a myriad of colours red, orange will strike
Those who despise her and refuse her like
A freedom won with red diffusion
The end of fear, no hidden agenda
For she is glad she loves her gender
Green is the colour that expresses her hope
For she exercises her ability to cope and abstain
From a world that chokes non-conforming claim
Of the love she feels for her lover dear
For together they make a rainbow bright
That dazzles and exposes a prejudice light
For she is all her lover needs
To find the love that does exceed
The smallness of a bland sad world
That refuses to experience all that a person can be
Rather they will bind her, confound any plea
She sat on a hill that rose above the ground
With a height that broke conformed bounds
She overcomes all obstacles to reach her true love
Fighting opposition to prove she is true
At last she’s free and no longer blue
Her love rises high into the rainbow in the sky
She lives how she wants it is no longer a dream
For this gay girl who sat on the ground so green
