A Father’s Shadow

I do not blame your father.

Loss shapes us

in ways we do not choose.

But I cannot help thinking:

if grief was meant to make you gentler,

then you betrayed his memory.

Because what you gave me

was not gentleness—

but the sharp edge

of your silence.
