A Dog Lover's Poem

with the Dog's View of Love

Murphy My Love

Love. How do you know you’ve fallen in love.

He makes you feel like you’ve done the right thing.

He stares at you with those longing brown eyes.

He follows you everywhere you go.

He brings you his favorite toys.

He knows your emotions better than you.

You provide him with a loving, warm and caring home.

Everyone tells you it’s a waste of time and money.

Yet, you don’t stop.

You’re scared with every step you take towards the doorstep.

You come across a doorstep that offers free food and water on the porch.

You long for this feeling of caring and love.

The park you visit shows you there are kind people.

Your belly growls because you’re always hungry.

You wander the streets hoping someone wants you.

You think you found someone, only to be abandoned again and again.

You’re abandoned because you didn’t look like what you were advertised.
