A Change Is Gonna Come

Where They Live

Come take a walk with me to the seedier side of life

Change that suit, go inside, get your wife

Be sure to bring the kids, leave the X Box home

Now you'll see others existing homeless and alone

This first stop, hourly workers have been forced to stay

They’ve lost their jobs, no longer have a payday

Corporate heads stole the money for themselves

Americans' jobs were shipped someplace else

Smell the stench when you walk by... it sticks to your skin…

But a change is coming... I can feel it in the wind…

Next stop, women watch while the children play

Seeking safety from criminals released from overcrowded jails today

But don’t you worry, you are safe for a little while

That man over there won’t hurt you, his mind thinks he’s a child

They’ll move into your neighborhood and rest outside your door

Cause they lost their home and sleep on streets or the shelter floor

Some never go to sleep and wander the streets at night

Unfortunately for some… it has become their way of life

Smell the stench when you walk by… it sticks to your skin

But a change is coming, I can feel it in the wind

Well… your walk with me is now over, you rest safe back in your home

But did you explain to the kiddies what it’s like when you’re alone

The seedier side of life, no TV, or video games to play

Yes, go on to sleep now… but it’s not going away

So before you by that new game or toys for three hundred bucks

Teach your kid to go without, life’s about hard work… not luck

Tell them the clothes they wear are made by the hands of little kids

Cause Mr. And Mrs. Americas' jobs went to the country where they live…

Smell the stench when you walk by… it sticks to your skin

But a change is coming... I can feel it in the wind…

Certainly a change is coming, Can’t YOU feel it in the wind
