625 Days
A Sonnet of the Void Before Finding God in Someone You Love
By Spencer BarrettPublished 9 years ago • 1 min read

When the world doth fall will you remain?
Fifteen thousand hours I spend waiting
at rocky end; I wait and wait again
Until at last you begin creating.
You molded shape from none; coaxing with hands
into a divine existence, new form.
The lakes or mountains, the seas and the sand
Leap to your touch, ever gentle or warm.
But power breaks me down to single cell,
A new beginning from which I can grow.
Against my lips, cold water from the well;
I understand now what it is to know.
My Queen, the stars and space call out your name;
Naught in the universe will end your reign.
