Everything stopped.

Collective mouths gaped and awe poured in.

Light swapped space with dark, catching breaths

in a glorious suspension of belief. Sacred minutes slid by. Then,

picking up lawn chairs and checking phones, we all went on our way.

Sol slowly slips behind Earth. Darkness takes deep breaths, awaiting light's sublime return,

every day. Every day.

About the Creator

Sonia Heidi Unruh

I love: my husband and children; all who claim me as family or friend; the first bite of chocolate; the last blue before sunset; solving puzzles; stroking cats; finding myself by writing; losing myself in reading; the Creator who is love.

"We all went on our way" what a line! So true and kinda sad. Beautifully written, Sonia :)

  • Well-wrought! This was one of my faves. The repitition of the line "Every day" at the end was a nice touch. Emphasizing perhaps that though the sun sets, it rises again? Such was my interpretation. Adding this one to my CREATION MYTH as an introduction to your work!

  • Solid work, very true.
