3 Little Words

Each Pried From My Lips

He was fully in

Then he was out

:

Then partially there

:

Numb

Emotions on ice

:

So he couldn't feel the latent pain

Let alone anything

:

He was partially there

Until I faded away

:

Because he took my love for granted

I didn't have the heart to stay

:

It's hard to say goodbye

To someone you still love

:

Especially when you know

they are scared to love again

:

To separate your lives

Before you even uttered the words

:

Leaving yourself vulnerable

Cutting open your arteries

and letting your love bleed on their table

:

3 little words

that can't seem to pry themselves

from your lips

:

3 little words

that you can't seem to carve

with your tongue

:

As your heart screams

and your body rests silently

:

It's hard to say I love you

When you mean it

After you've been hurt all before

:

But it's easier to say I love you

When it's time to let go
