Petal blush rays,

Penetrated my weary eyes, a tired haze.

I hear Alexa’s automatic voice,

Announcing the date with quiet rejoice.

My foggy brain clears,

As rapidly as a car switches gears.

It’s been a hundred days,

Since your soul departed from this very room.

A heartbreaking goodbye,

To watch my vivacious parent die.

Grief stays with me,

Like flowers being attacked by a hundred bees.

Pulling myself out of bed,

Memories dance in my head.

We tried hundreds of ways to keep your elderly heart beating.

Glancing around my cheerful bedroom,

A hundred different scenes play out in your once sick room.

Your love for me, and mine for you,

Will wrap around me like a blanket, seeing me through.
