Famous Canadian actor Donald Sutherland, known for his iconic roles in films like 'The Dirty Dozen' and "The Hunger Games," has died at the age of 88 in Miami following an extended illness, according to Variety.

His second marriage, to actress Shirley Douglas, lasted from 1966 to 1971 and produced two children, son Kiefer and daughter Rachel. He went on to have three sons, Roeg, Rossif and Angus, with his third wife, Canadian actress Francine Racette



Sutherland married French Canadian actress Francine Racette in 1972, after meeting her on the set of the Canadian pioneer drama Alien Thunder. They had three sons – Rossif Sutherland, Angus Redford Sutherland, and Roeg Sutherland – all of whom were named after directors Sutherland had worked with.

Donald Sutherland, the towering Canadian actor whose acclaimed career spanned more than six decades, has died at the age of 88.

His son, actor Kiefer Sutherland, confirmed his death on Thursday.

"With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away," read the post on X. "I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film. Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that.

The star will be remembered for gracing the screen in projects as diverse as “The Hunger Games,” “The Italian Job,” and “Pride and Prejudice.” His earlier performances included “MASH,” “Ordinary People,” and “Klute.”

Actor Kiefer Sutherland paid homage to his father on X: “He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that,” the son wrote. “A life well lived.”

The home was built in 1980, and Sutherland lived there until 2012. It was sold for $2.5 million in 2014 and for $3 million in 2016.

The seaside abode came on the market earlier this year for $3,675,000 and was also available to lease for $12,500 a month. It’s now off the market.

According to the current owner, the home “has unique architectural features, all designed by Sutherland.”

Built-in furniture is still intact from Sutherland’s days there. Extensive security measures he put in place also remain, keeping paparazzi and fans at bay.

Located on Palisades Beach, the nautical-inspired retreat has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It features cathedral ceilings, hardwood floors, and a “sun-soaked” living space.

Other highlights include a built-in library wall with a desk, wood-framed sliders and windows, and a beautiful chef’s kitchen.

The home offers “vistas from the pier up to Malibu,” the listing notes.

After Sutherland split from Santa Monica, he apparently moved to Beverly Hills. We’ve found a 90210 home that might be connected to the late actor via a limited liability company.

The Cape Code-style estate last changed hands in 2010 for $3.3 million. Built in 1949, the four-bedroom, 4.5-bath abode spans nearly 4,000 square feet. It features an open floor plan for a “casual, welcoming style.”

The spacious family room has outdoor access, and the landscaping includes a rose garden and fruit trees. The property also has a three-car garage and off-street parking for six more cars
