Caring for Your Furry Friend: A Guide to Proper Pet Care and Animal Welfare
"The Importance of Adopting Pets from Shelters" Adopting a pet from a shelter is one of the most rewarding and compassionate choices a pet owner can make. Not only does it provide a loving home for an animal in need, but it also helps to reduce the number of animals in shelters, and make room for more animals to be rescued.

The Watcher in the Window
The outside world was unknown to her, but she could see a glimpse of it through the window in his room. Statuesque in her concentration, she gazed out it longingly, concentrating momentarily on the flies ticking and buzzing against the glass of her prison.

Let's face it - if you own a cat, you’re often in awe of their adorable qualities - their squishy toebeans, the perfect symmetry of their faces, the way they meow and how they always make a hard day more bearable.

Country life, farm living is the life for me. I can sometimes be a hermit, but I think most country folk can be as we tend to enjoy the peaceful surroundings of home. I have always felt that raising my children in Arroyo Seco was one of the best choices I made for them. I was that single working mom raising a family of four, and it had its moments, hurdles. Had it not been for me to find something to laugh about in the hardest of times, I never would have made it to where I am today. It shaped me into the woman and writer I have become.

It's a love story that I want to share. It's too sweet to not be told. He is suave, cool, and a real Romeo and I can see why the chicks love him. By his strut, I can tell he knows it. I watch him while he's watching me. We have that eye contact thing going on. Every now and then he gives me that one-eyed side look as he pumps out his chest. That look that all chicks just love.

If Randy or I use the word walk in a sentence, Dagney interprets it as an invitation. If we hold up her leash she shakes with excitement. That’s what happened when we planned a morning walk. We were prepared. Dagney filled with expectations. But then the phone rang. The conversation lasted long enough to turn our dog into a statue. She didn’t move an inch while waiting for Randy to finish the phone call. Yes, she did get rewarded with a long, leisurely walk.

“Your lick on my cheek, solace for my heart.” I walked out curiously looking for the cute bark and there was he; scuffling through a piece of cloth under the drying wire. I went closer and took away the cloth.

Recently saw a video, mixed feelings: A 7-year-old child came home from school and saw that the rabbit sent by his grandmother was slaughtered by his parents, and once broke down and cried.

I was 14 years old and living in suburbia with my parents, two younger sisters, one younger brother and two cats. I had returned home from school one day, kicked off my shoes by the top of the stairs and hung up my backpack in the hallway closet. After closing the door, I noticed an anomaly lying on the beige carpet in our tidy home, a single white sock lying upon the floor, some distance from any hamper. I walked over and picked up the sock, examining it for anything unusual before shrugging and tossing it into the closest laundry basket. I couldn’t have known at the time, but this unexceptional event was my introduction to the Sock Rebellion, and the moment I became a soldier in the lifelong conflict.
The Matchmaker
I don’t like cliché things. It’s not something I decided on one day, it’s just always sort of been like that. I don’t know why, but anything that rings of a trope or stereotype drives me batty. So, when I say that the way I met my wife was probably something to do with God’s sense of humor, you can believe me.
